Laughter is powerful stuff. I don’t know about you, but I can’t laugh hard and feel frazzled at the same time. It just doesn’t work. My body can’t hold those two things together.
When parenting gets busy or stressful, we can forget to laugh. And the lack of laughter drains the fun out of life rapidly.
Laughter has physiological effects that make for easier living. Laughter increases our blood flow, boosts our immune systems, acts as pain relief and releases stress. Laughter helps control blood sugar spikes and reduces aggression. Laughter shakes our bodies, loosening tension we hold in our bodies. Laughter creates space for us to see more options in our situations. Laughter bonds social groups.
And laughter is fun.
